PeaceDrums is a concert spread out across the Mediterranean Sea.
Thousands of drums exchange beats from coast to coast making the heartbeat into a pulse of peace at the rhythm of music.
All together, on the 23rd of September 2017, we will make one sound resonate:
THE WAVE OF PEACE
The starting point for communication will be the beach.
The rhythm will take us back to the ancestral essence of life: the heartbeat.
From a reverse perspective, the beach becomes the symbolic starting point for a dialogue based on the rhythm of music.
From Lampedusa to Venice, Istanbul, Smirne, Beirut, Gaza, Tel Aviv, Alexandria, Tunisia, Cyprus, Barcellona, Marseille and more.
Music will send a message of peace, bondage and friendship between people facing the same sea. The sea that will be the route for cultural exchanges like it always has.
The idea comes from Filippo Sciacca, expert in sustainable marketing. PeaceDrums is a dream come true.
PeaceDrums is organized by Filippo Sciacca, Festival delle Generazioni and Emma for Peace. The social-cultural association promotes and values the culture of music on the island through educational projects involving the territory and its inhabitants.
The fundraising will support the event and to buy musical instruments for the Istituto omnicomprensivo Luigi Pirandello, in order to create a small orchestra on Lampedusa, and to the Damascus Conservatory.
PeaceDrums is supported by a group of professionals that are united in this project with passion and enthusiasm: Gabriele Bruccoleri, Francesca Tassone, Agnese Cattoretti, Maso Notarianni, Kikko Solaris, Simone Varano, Manuela Marone, Marcelo Soule and Antonella Bonincontro.
The project is open to anyone who would like to participate on the night of the 23rd of September, 2017 and join the great wave of music and peace.
Lampedusa is the gate to the Mediterranean.
It is an island that becomes a bridge, a crossroads of peoples.
When the drums will start to play on Lampedusa, other drummers, musicians, amateurs and professionals will respond to the beat. This dialogue across the Med will be filmed and broadcasted in streaming on the web.
For one day the sound over the Mediterranean will not be the echo of war nor the engines of floating wrecks transporting migrants but that of drum beats in honor of the heartbeat of those who have left their land.
